ALICE
1988
Alice is a 1988 dark fantasy film written and directed by Jan Švankmajer. Its original Czech title is NÄ›co z Alenky, which means "Something from Alice". It is a loose adaptation of Lewis Carroll's first Alice book, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865), about a girl who follows a white rabbit into a bizarre fantasy land. Alice is played by Kristýna Kohoutová. The film combines live action with stop motion animation, and is distinguished by its dark and uncompromising production design.

I feel with this film that it depends on taste, and what I mean by saying that is some people may like this film and some people may not. Unfortunately I personally did not find much enjoyment within this film, but I do think there's some aspects that I quite liked about this film, so its not like I hated it.
First lets get the negatives out of the way as I personally felt the overall film was boring, but that is coming from my personal taste and that's the thing with this film that it depends on your personal taste. But as I watched the film, all the things I could think to say was that I felt the film is outdated, boring and the key word soulless, but that's the whole point of the film that it is meant to be soulless as it is described as a dark fantasy. As mentioned before, I do like some aspects of the film such as the mixture of live action and stop motion animation, as they animate with real life objects including real life stuffed animals and vintage toys that gave it that crafty look to the film and I am all for the hand crafted look.

But overall I don't think this film is for me although I do like some aspects so for that reason I will give it 2/5.
